The NTU Philosophy Group was established in view of the rich intellectual and cultural resources available at a research-intensive science and technological university located in culturally affluent Singapore.
The graduate programme in Philosophy invites applicants from a wide range of approaches and traditions in philosophy. The programme has particular strengths in Chinese Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, and Ethics and Political Philosophy. Research may be pursued within a particular tradition such as Chinese Philosophy or Anglo-American Philosophy, or from a comparative or interdisciplinary perspective.
Both the MA and the PhD programmes are built on these areas of strength.
- MA thesis research projects can be in any of the faculty’s expertise areas.
- PhD thesis research projects should contain interdisciplinary and comparative components.
They should attempt to interface with various disciplines and cultural traditions, and should bridge cultural traditions with contemporary views.
